So yea, I was in Waterstones self-help section and I saw these 4 books... can I get some feedback on them? I've genuinely somehow managed to never read any of them. Did I buy the right one?

1. Neil Strauss - The Game
2. Neil Strauss - The Game (follow-up)
3. Dale Carnegie - How to Win Friends and Influence People
4. Stephen Covey - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

I went with Dale Carnegie. I've heard quite a lot of bad reviews of The Game, and never a single one about Dale Carnegie (though you can get it on YouTube for free, I want the real book....)

Are the others worth getting? Thoughts? A lot of questions, lol.

Oh yea and I forgot to mention another little book on NLP that I saw... but isn't NLP mainly fucked up, creepy shit? Am I just understanding it wrong? Hmm..

But yea, should I have got one of the other books instead? I'm not sure :D everybody talks about Dale Carnegie and how amazing the book is meant to be, so....

NLP from my understanding is almost like hypnosis. It's a way to use psychology in a way that benefits you. That's my understanding of it, someone correct me if I'm wrong

Can I suggest Models by Mark Manson. Blows the other books you listed away. Very modern tone and highly relatable for all skill sets.

Yeah I agree. Don't know too much about NLP but all I know is that it's creepy and pathetic as fuck and you should only use it if you're so deformed that the only way a girl is going to have sex with you is if she's under hypnosis (oh god that's sad)

Dale Carnegie is a wonderful writer. Great choice. It's less about pick up and more about polishing your social skill.

If you want a good PUA book, buy Krauser's Daygame Nitro or his newest tome Daygame Mastery.

Thanks :) I think I got the right book then, I'm just focusing on my confidence etc SPAM and trying to become happy with myself (also have Dr Rob Yeung: Confidence) when I'm a little more confident, I'll probably invest in some more PUA stuff - I'm quite good when it comes to actually getting women, it's just the confidence and shyness that gets me (specially after being in a relationship for a year and a half, and now trying to shift the oneitis lol)

I'll definitely look into those other books though - daygame was always kind of my thing, before I knew there was any kind of name for it...

Thanks, I'll look into it. Quite addicted to reading at the moment.

Chief has a good program that I've been looking into called "Seductive Introvert". It costs a little bit of money but it lays down some great guidelines starting from step one.

I've read the first 3 books, but not number 4.

Believe it or not, and I know that some people might go against me for saying this, but "The Game" is better than Winning Friends and Influencing People. This is mainly because it teaches you the ultimate lesson you have to know in the end. All Dale writes about is how to speak to people in restructured sentences so that they can obey what you are saying. I've tried applying some of his methods. Some work really well, but others will make you look like a Kiss-ass in modern days. I'd suggest you read both because the more you read the more you'll know what works best for you.

I personally think that Models by Mark Manson was the best read for me.

Stephen Covery - 7 habits...

You will inspired a lot.

By the way, The Traveler's Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success is a hell damn book. Defintely worth a read!

nlp is basically a study of communication, the communication between 2 (or more) people and the communication with yourself, i.e. self-talk. this is where the self help part of NLP comes about like if you talk to yourself negatively the effect it has on you, and by the same thought the effect that words have on other people.
yes hypnosis is intertwined with nlp because hypnosis is a form of communication. people have the misconception that is hypnosis is abusive but you can abuse someone without hypnosis.

Interesting choices that I am seeing here. I might have to look at some of those books as well.

I'm just listening to The Game audiobook on YouTube, instead. I'll definitely be buying Models though, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

I'd suggest for anyone to read Corey Wayne: How To Become A 3% Man. I'd buy it, but I've read it online 6 times lol.
