It depends on your style and goals.

Yes, you CAN get a girlfriend from pickup. Some styles lend better to it than others. I'm a lifestyle type of guy and I've often been called an "alpha male." My version is going up to a girl, chatting her up and flirting. This lends fine to going home with her, or lining up dates.

Other styles hide who you are, which is okay for a night or so, but long-term you'll look like an inconsistent liar.

So, yes, you can, but be careful how you approach.

You can turn every girl you ever hook up with into a relationship.

If you fuck the girl right and your behavior doesn't change after you have sex (meaning get needy, insecure, etc) most of them will want to still be a part of your life. Girls don't just fall off the face of the earth after you have sex with them.

If you want to get a girlfriend, build up a rotation of girls you're hooking up with. Get a good 15-20 of them in there and then pick one that you want to spend more time with (you'll have a good idea of what type of girls are out there and what you REALLY want in a woman) and go from there.

If you want to get a girlfriend the right way, I'd suggest just sleeping around and don't let anything get serious unless the girl wants it to get serious.
