I met her at a local bar. We sat down. I ordered a beer. She ordered a jack/coke. She did not reach for her wallet. So, my aspiring-pua research indicates (if I read everything correctly) that you're not supposed to buy the girl a bunch of drinks cause it's supplication, she'll use you for a bunch of free drinks, and move on (not sure if that applies to solely opening or during the whole "courtship" process).
So, I have def. fallen into that trap (I buy drinks and never hear from them again) many times and now coffee is my move on a first date. However, being on the 2nd date I decided that if I bought all the drinks then I would be in the same stupid boat. So, it took all my courage to muster up this sentence, but I turned to her (internally sweating bullets and pretty nervous) and said,
"I'll get this round. You get the next one."
And she did (she bought the next round).
Did I shoot myself in the foot on that 1 or was that a good move?
Thx in advance for all feedback.

I usually don't mind me/her paying as long as it's a drink or two, more out of respect and interest in the conversation than who is going to pay. If she initiates to pay, let her. If she doesn't, just pay like it's no big deal. However, I don't apply this to fancy/expensive restaurants because I don't go there on dates.

Thx!
