Ok so I'm thinking of teaching myself some beginner salsa off YouTube. Anyways, for those of you who salsa with girls at clubs are there basic moves every salsa dancer knows and what are they?

I was just watching a beginner salsa video and it was a girl and a guy doing footwork in tandem. I thought about teaching myself some footwork, but it seems like some of the footwork girls might not know how to do but at the same time I've never looked into salsa dancing before so what do I know. I'm just thinking of a situation where you ask a girl to salsa at a club or go to an actual salsa club, what moves would you use? A lot of it seems dependent on the other person knowing what you're doing. But like I said I don't know shit about salsa, so this question is directed towards anybody with salsa experience.

You overthink thi massively. Go to a salsa class, forget youtube. There you can learn quicker, meet people and actually practice with girls. If you practice on your own you won't know what to do with the girl, how to lead her etc.
Talking from experience.

He's right, you mainly have to lead the girl around instead of dancing some coregraphy (that's the whole beauty of it :) ) and it's advisable to take some salsa lessons to lear the very basics. But if you're interested in doing this on your own you will still need some girl to dance with (a sister, a cousin, your mom etc) and for some point to start from you can check addicted2salsa.com where you can find salsa lessons where he teches you the basics and the figures.
But the most learning you'll do when it comes to salsa is from going out to clubs and dancing with everybody :) .
