So I picked up The Game by Neil Strauss yesterday. I'm about a quarter way through the book and decided to try employing some of what I had learned so far. At the mall, I started looking for potential targets. I kept my goals modest, thinking that if I had one good conversation with a woman I had never met before, that would be a step in the right direction. After wussing out a few times, I spotted a girl working at a sunglasses kiosk. She was blonde, attractive, about an 8. Rather than going in direct, I decided to play uninterested by acting like I was more interested in the sunglasses than her. I walked around the kiosk, looking at different pairs of sunglasses before stopping in front of her. She almost immediately asked if I wanted help. I opened by asking her which pair she thought would look good on me. She suggested one, which I tried on and dismissed. We made small talk about the ice storm that passed through a couple weeks ago and knocked out power all over the city. I related my story about the last major power outage we had this summer. It involved an indepently run theater that shows artsy independent films. Despite living here her whole life, she'd never heard of it, but said her boyfriend likely knew it. At this point I was trying on a pair of Aviators that neither of us liked. I tried a couple more pairs before wrapping the conversation. Though I didn't number-close, I felt good about taking my first step in the right direction. Thoughts, comments, advice?

It sounds like you did really well man!

the only thing i would suggest would be after she dropped the boyfriend info, you could have still stormed further by getting her to initiate some hand contact (see my field report) so that she wouldn't be thinking about her BF anymore and then tried a number-close (something to do with the theater perhaps).

I opened a 86 year old man on the bus and a 74 year old girl on the busstop. No k-closes tho. I had fun. Lots of IOI and some kino with the gal.
