I've introduced myself as J Smooth for a while. Then I was like my name is Jon but most people call me "J." J Smooth is also my pen name so I have a reason behind it.
If you don't really have a good reason or can't make one up then it's not a good idea to use that name in public. Even Mystery introduces himself as Erik and says his "Stagename" is Mystery.
