Seems like this would do even better directed towards someone else in the set. For example "Is she always this rude? How come you still hang out with her?"
ah the perfect neg, yeah i agree better to her friend as it shows you're not really thinking of a come back and discards her comment as another excuse for you to converse with her friend, suddenly the bitch that made the comment sees that she has demonstrated lower value and now ranks low in the set as is being left out of the convo.
