So this chick I followed on instagram (originally saw her IG name on Tinder) followed me back, liked several of my pics, and was laughing at my direct messages to her. I got her number, and I immediately said "let's get drinks on Thursday night". She responded instantly saying she doesn't drink.

So then I say let's meet and not drink at xyz bar. She says xyz bar is not really her scene. That's fair for someone who doesn't drink - that was a dumb suggestion on my part. So then I say let's go for a walk around the Brooklyn Bridge (people like doing that and we both live near it) and tell her if she's good we'll get ice cream. She says "Oh wow ice cream". 90% chance she is being sarcastic, even though I did see an instagram post of her enjoying ice cream.

This isn't the first girl who pulled this shit on me. Is she being rude/hard to get or am I being an idiot? What should I have asked her to do, or would it have even mattered? It's like she went from being very interested in me to playing hard to get all in the span of like 3 texts.

Maybe after she said xyz bar isn't her scene, I shouldn't have suggested the ice cream date. Maybe instead I should have just ignored her for a few days and then set up an ice cream date. Who turns down ice cream?! lol. How do I find out what she wants? Doing what I want didn't work, and I can't ask her where she wants to go, because all women hate that.

How bout this. Why don't you go meet some other HOTTER girl who actually is serious about dating and take her to get some ice cream? Then have some random passerby on the Brooklyn Bridge take a selfie of you two licking each side of a peanut buster parfait or some shit, with the title "WOW, ICE CREAM!"

Then post THAT on Instagram for o-girl to see.

Arch - fair assessment. But then I would ask you, what would you have done differently? If not ice cream, where would you ask her to? I don't know very much about her, so I stuck with something generic and quick like ice cream.

Well, asking a girl out for ice cream is weak to begin with. But as you get older, it gets worse (especially in cases of age disparity, lol).

Coffee dates, walks in the park, these are all weak first dates (especially in the afternoon). Ask a girl to a bar for a couple drinks. If she says "I don't drink" say "Cool, neither do I. But I'll try anything once".

don't investigate a girl's Instagram profile to see what she likes for a first date. Do what YOU like. She hasn't earned that level yet.
