Don't confront girls about their exes. First off, if she's talking about her ex, then you're not doing something right.
Second of all, if you don't want a girl to talk about something, any time she brings it up, just blandly give one word answers in a dispassionate voice. She'll get the hint and stop. No good is going to come out of confronting her over it.
