I happen to be commuting a lot by train, of late. This question is probably very lame. But, it is a sticking point for me.

When you have a target and there are many strangers in close proximity what do you do?

For example, the other day I was on a return trip from the city a HB sat in the seat facing me, the train was crowded, many different conversations were going on and there was a really annoying loud woman on her phone. I was so distracted I couldn't open this brunette for a long while. I decided when I regained my focus to practice a neg. (I am overly complimentary to very attractive women.) I had caught her glance and beamed a smile at her already. I noticed she was playing a game on her phone most of the trip. I asked what she was playing. She told me about the game 2048. I told her that was cool. Then, I said "Since you sat down I haven't been able to win a thing. So I gave up." She knew I was flirting hard. But, my stop came and I just left.

If I could have avoided sticking on the others around us I could have opened her sooner and went for a number close.
