So as I was sitting in my morning lecture, I noticed a cute little red-head who kept eying me (IOI 1). You know when you can just feel when someone is looking at you!? I keep my eyes on the professor for most of the class and eventually make eye contact with her and give her a smile, she smiles back. (IOI 2) Anywho, after the class, I time my departure right behind hers, and she looks back and smiles really big.

I said, " What was your name again?", she responds. I continue, "First year, second?" Shes a freshmen, (meh, flame me if you will, but you only live once). "Thats cool," I say. I continued with this pattern (which is bad, twenty questions is not a fun game!!!). I found out that she's a musician though, and so am I. We took an interest in each others musical abilities (talked about what we play, how long we've been playing, etc.). I'd like to say that her mutual interest was an IOI, but I can honestly say that on playback, I think I only got 2. As we waited for the elevator, there was an uneasiness about both of us, but before I pulled a time constraint, I asked for her number. She gave it to me without hesitation. I honestly think my looks had something to do with this working...which I will count as a fail.

I ran into her at the cafe' later, but had been eyeing another brunette at a table, she pretty much cut me off while I was on a collision coarse heading towards this other girl. "Hey! Fancy seeing you here!" I recovered. She seemed stoked to see me, but awkward at the same time. I dismissed myself, and said I had a class to catch (Lie! I was dying to get out of the awkward vibe, so I went down to the lounge and played the guitar for a half hour before my next class!)

So, now that I've gotten home and texted her, she seems to be responding quite well. My biggest issue with this is that I don't really know her, so watching what I say is going to be crucial. Also, I cant fuck this up, shes in my class for the whole semester!

What do you guys think, is the awkwardness enough merit dropping this?! Should I ask her out for a day date rather than texting to death? How long should I wait before getting a day date (I'm free this afternoon! lol :D)? Any advice would be appreciated.

Instead of answering your question I will tell you a story that happened to me last friday. I believe this will give some insight in an awkward situation and that it really doesn't count.

- Last friday I was at a club with a guy I met at school, while being there we met two girls currently taking a couple of classes with me. In the start this went very well, one of the girls started showing me an immense amount of interest, however, she kept repeating "I can't make out with you" 6 or even 7 times during the night. As the night went on she tested me again, by telling me that I am too easy to get and a friend of mine that she had made out with previously was low on her scale, and that I was even lower.

I never had any intention of making out with these two girls, and I didn't either. This is the thing though. At the school the following monday they both asked me were I headed in the club, and really started to try getting my attention. They had both "forgotten" about the subject of the friday evening, including those tests and the other girl trying to kiss me.

My point with this story is as following:
- If you act like a cool person and know how to act in terms of the surroundings it doesn't really matter if you screw it up. As long as you don't focus on it. This applies to both girls and boys, and in order for you to really screw things up is if you actually try to seduce the girl without her showing mutual interest. This shouldn't really happen, and especially not at your point. Girls give out signals when interested too;)

- Exerio

Thanks man! That is much appreciated! I see your point and I'll do my best to avoid the awkward moments and emphasize the strong points of our meeting.

Also, I think there is a word for people who try to seduce girls without mutual interest. "Rapist." ("Creeper" works too!)

After some smooth texting, I got a date with her. Phase shift!
