I'm in my sophomore year at a big state university. Here's my take on it:

A lot of what you hear about college is a farce. Guys aren't getting laid left and right. The reason such an idea is so prominent at school is that no guy is willing to admit that, so most of them lie and bullshit. Think of it this way - if frat guys were able to get girls so easily, why do you hear so many stories about them using rufies or even raping girls? And the vast vast majority of their hook-ups happen when the girl is totally wasted. The fact is, these guys try to act all macho, but they can't do anything without alcohol in their system AND the girl's system. And without the minor social status their frats give them, they have very little going for them.

I don't go out that much party-hopping. This year I've maybe been to crowded dance parties one night. The few times I've gone out though, something usually happened. Three times I got laid, a few times I got kisses, etc. I don't do that anymore because it's just not satisfying, and I also have other obligations that prevent me from partying.

I'm definitely looking to talk some girls up during classes and whatnot. I did it in the beginning of the year, and while a lot of attempts ultimately went nowhere, I got a bit out of it (though I haven't kissed a girl for about 2 months).

One thing I find is that A LOT of girls have boyfriends. Everyone always says, "College kids aren't looking for serious relationships," but that's not really true. If it was, there would be a lot more single girls.

If we're talking in-class, then it's probably easier to do so at the beginning of the semester? My school's population is only 40% male, so I'm pretty glad of that.
