Just wondering if reading books like The Game really helped you pick up your game. Is it really necessary? Have any of you had success simply using internet sources? I am debating whether it is worth the time and effort to go get these books, and if you believe they are necessary any recommendations would be helpful.

Mystery didn't read any cause there weren't any. Same with Style and pretty much all the other big name guys. _________________ "The 'Brick Walls' are there to allow you to prove how badly you want something!" ~ Randy Pausch

Reading material will probably help to better shape your understanding of pickup. There are also many other audio and video files that are quite valuable.
In my opinion, once you know the basics, most of the room for improvement is in personal experience. Once you have changed your map of reality to more accurately represent the real world, then books and files are not the place to go to improve yourself and your game. _________________ There are no failures, only feedback.

I'm guessing not. Your mom or dad probably explained a little about what you needed to do, but nothing they said could have fully prepared you for getting on and pedaling yourself.
The PUA books and materials are like the manual for bike riding. The PUA forum is like your mom or dad. The point is, YOU need to put in the effort. The rest is just peripheral. _________________ -That's my two cents...
