Hey guys,
Last Friday I met this cute girl at a bar...was able to number AND email close (will write a field report on it later). At any rate, she didn't take down my email so I wrote her on Sunday night, saying, "Hey I was writing to let you have my email address, etc." I told her I am a musician and she wrote back saying she wanted to know when my next show was because she would love to hear me play.

Now here's the thing: my next show isn't for a while but I WILL be free this Wednesday. I wanted to write something suggesting we meet for coffee or something, but my mind is going blank...I can't remember any advice on how to ask!!! So far all I was thinking was something like, "Hey, I have a little free time on Wednesday. Would you want to meet for coffee? It wouldn't be formal or anything because I wouldn't haveTOO much time on my hands."

That's all I have, and it doesn't seem to measure up. Can anyone give me some quick advice?

dude, go with something simple like when are you going to take me out buy me some coffee? Doesn't sound needy, will probably get a laugh and break the ice.

Do some point system or something to show your value (for example she is only at 10 points now and she needs to get to 20 for YOU to take her to your show – you’re the prize). Show more value than her and make her work for going to your show… don’t just give it to her! When she works for it the prize is even that much greater. So make the coffee date a relaxed and fun experience where she still has to prove to YOU that she is worth having at your show.

… say something like, “Alright well I don’t have a show for awhile, but I’m still not so sure about you anyways. You’re at about a 1.2 out of 4.0 in my book (that’s my personal system to represent the grading system in school since I’m a student). When you get to 2.0, I’ll let you come to my next show. I have a tight schedule and Wed. is the only day I’ll be free for awhile. So let’s meet at this cozy little coffee place right by my house that I know you'll enjoy and we’ll see if you can get to that 2.0. Would you rather meet me there at 6pm or 8pm?” …. Just an idea

Well, I perused DOUBLE YOUR DATING and came up with what I hope is a good response. If not, it's not like she is the last woman in the world:

"Okay, cool. Well, my next show isn't for a while, so I was just wondering what you were up to either on Thurs or Fri. Why don't we get together at Professor Java's on Wolf Rd for a cup of coffee or something? Say around 6 or 7pm? I enjoyed our conversation on Friday night, and I think it'd be great to get to know each other better. If there's one thing in life you can never get enough of, it's good friends."

Deangelo gives a lot of advice on page 84 or so that dropping hints about being "just friends" will really mess them up. Every woman is slightly different, so I don't know if this will work. Still, I feel this is a good reply and will hopefully yield some good results.

My choice:

"Hey, my next show isn't going to be for a while, but I was planning on going out for coffee on Wednesday. You should come along."

Don't ask. Tell. Asking leaves you open for rejection. Telling leaves you open to objections, which can be overcome.

Monkey,
shoot...you're right. Damn! Well, if being a PUA were taught as a college course, I'd still be at the 100 level. Even if I get nothing out of this, I can still be proud of one thing with this young woman: I originally went for an email close...but wound up with a number!

Field report coming soon.

Holy cow! Well, semantics of my email aside, I just got a text message from her that said she'd love to have coffee with me tomorrow. Damn...wish I had time to brush up on my follow-up skills.
