It's not something I would normally do, but it is customary for the guy to take his date to dinner before homecoming. There's a chance that she won't have enough money to buy her half, so she suggested just skipping dinner.
So what should I do?

There is nothing wrong with paying for a woman’s meal, if she’s earned it through previous good behavior. It is afc to buys things for women you barely know and have no good behavior to warrant expenses. It’s important to notice the difference. The real question you have to ask yourself is, potential sex aside, would you do this for her anyway? If she were just a person that you had no sexual interest in, would you still buy her the dinner? If so then do it. But if you’re just trying to buy your way into her pants, then don’t.
P.S. Do you have the money to pay for the dinner? Don't do it if its too much of a burden on you.
