Should I pay for my date's dinner? It's not something I would normally do, but it is customary for the guy to take his date to dinner before homecoming. There's a chance that she won't have enough money to buy her half, so she suggested just skipping dinner.

If so then do it. But if you’re just trying to buy your way into her pants, then don’t.
