Men approach women and do all the hard work, that's what society says is how things should be done and it's always been like that - we are the dominant sex and because of that, if a woman approaches a man she likes and is too forward it makes her "easy" and she is shunned by her social group. This puts women in a bit of a spot. However, you can approach a guy you like if you have some kind of plausible deniability. You're in classes with a lot of guys so I'm sure you can come up with excuses to talk to them... unfortunately, you will still need them to take the initiative otherwise risk being the weird girl who tries it on with all the boys.
If you look at the way relationships are generally formed, it's almost always between a couple who are active within the same social circle. For example, people hook up with friends (or people they met through friends), work colleagues, or in your case, people from school. The way things work from my experience is, girls talk to their girly friends a hell of a lot about recent gossip and boys they like so the answer should be right in front of you. If you tell a friend of yours about someone you like it will eventually get to him and if he likes you back then he will try to escalate things with you somehow.
