can you use questions to open with that relate to previous situations with girls?

like for example...you met a girl at a bar and got her number, thought she was pretty interesting only to call her the next day and find out she wants you to meet the parents and has a kid

I ask this because as I am going to the club more often with other friends that want to work on their women skills, situations like these are coming up...i have tried them on waitresses and such and it seems to illicit a response on an emotional level with the target. They get on their soapbox and will go on a wild tangent about how they feel about it...tell me what you thing guys. thanks
