So a couple of weeks ago I was at this bar talking to this chick. I flirted with her basically the entire night. At one point she said I was a "nice guy" and a "sweetheart." Upon hearing this I did the exactly wrong thing and told her that I would rather be sort of an asshole than a nice guy because everything that I have ever read has pushed the idea of being well, sort of an asshole. She and this other dude moreorless called me out on it and next time I won't act so insecure but what I am wondering is how you guys would respond to the nice guy comment as a shit test or would you just own up to it like I feel I should have done?

It some cases this is just the girl showing interest back to you it's not necessarily that she is trying to shit test you. I know it seems like a shit test based on all the stuff we have red but that is not the case at all. Just accept the compliment of her showing interest in you and don't explain yourself. A simple thanks will suffice.
