I've been trying, mostly online (okcupid, facebook etc.), to be cocky and funny. I got the funny part of it working really well, perhaps too well. My problem is that the cocky part doesn't come through at all - no matter how far I go acting like an overconfident arrogant asshole, how much I bust their balls, and how much I get the conversation on the subject of sex, many girls take it as even more of the funny act, and treat me as a very entertaining guy to chat with, not as someone they want to fuck.

Ok, it works right sometimes, so it's not hopeless - actually I'm surprised by amount of lay I'm getting these days compared to what I was getting just a few months ago, but this bit bothers me a lot - any hints?
