Hey Guys,
I've always struggled a little with the idea of social context, I assumed that what was ok to say in front of some people was ok to say around others, which resulted in me sometimes offending people lol. After all it was just my "personality". I realised now that I can be a bit more dynamic, which is much more fun anyway
Now some things are obvious, for example you shouldn't do the following:
-Make sexist jokes in front of feminists.
-Bring up in depth discussion on sex in front of women.
-Burp, fart or just be plain crude around new people.
What things are acceptable in your opinion? Mainly I've been learning from my mistakes and other people's. Do you guys follow any guidelines, I like to bend rules a bit, but I might wait until I get good at understanding situations before doing so
Im guessing the following rules could be useful:
-Do not display pessimism until your gain a certain amount or rapport.
-Do not make negative statements about lifestyle, religion or belief, unless it is clearly a neg/joke?
-Keep it clean.
I would like to see if you can come up with more in depth or better guidelines.
Also do you guys have any suggested reading material on the matter?
Cheers,
