I went out tonight, and I had some problems. I went with another friend to his Frat brothers place, and everyone seemed to know each other and I knew no one but the guy I came with. How can I make myself feel more comfortable when I go to a place where everyone knows each other and I know no one. I just felt like I was already out of the circle before I even got there. I did manage to talk to a few people but really had to work for it. So if anyone has been in this situation or knows ways to make this work, I would appreciate the help.

Men this sucks, beeing the new kid on the block is usually not optimun but man come on. Most will agree that even you know the answer for your question. You have to bepart of the convo, Im also shy and it is also a bit screwed up for me, usually what I do is watch and listen the conversations which are going on and look for one with neutral topic or a topic I have good knowledge. Again I sort of avoid to talk to a single person in this scenes, it is harder than just sit next to a group and join the convo catching a hook on the conversation.
But about frat, univerisity and stuff... it is about practice you will get used to it.
