I once had this happen to me. A female friend of mine, in whose friendzone I had already ended up by that time, asked me to buy a drink when I entered the bar and saw her. I was really reluctant doing so, cause I was like "if I buy you a drink, it's because I offer you a drink, not because you demand it", and it felt very unnatural. Since she insisted, I ended up buying her a drink (which I got for free because the barman messed up) and when I came back she introduced me to two hot friends of hers and she was suddenly gone.
