My girlfriend broke up with her boyfriend to be with me. The guy could already predict that she would break up, now he's saying he's moving on with his life, but honestly I can tell that he's still sad.

I see this guy more often and we engaged in small talk on several occasions, at first he was hating me, now, he's neutral to me.

He's a nice guy and I want to show his network that I'm not a bad guy for taking his girl...
My question is:''How do I get this guy to see me as a friend?''

Does it matter?

But if it does:
Find a common interest. Or a common enemy. Or take him and some of his friends out and get them into sets. Be the guy who makes his life good. Wing him, and he'll appreciate it, plus it also puts you into a dominant position over him.
