Honestly, most guys text way too much (in my humble opinion). I make a point to only text to either set up the next meet-up (i.e. where, when) or to answer direct questions. It's perfectly reasonable to not respond to text messages that don't ask questions. Furthermore, talking on the phone is way better than texting.

So, in short: text her when you want to invite her out to something. Ask her what she's doing on a particular night or ask her if she'd be interested in doing XYZ with you. Refrain from texting anything else unless it's in response to a question she has for you. It is also okay to respond to the "day after" text (i.e. the one she writes you to let you know she had fun on your date). In that case, say something like, "Nice, we should do it again sometime soon"
