ok, even if your not sure please everyone give me as much advice or thoughst as you can.

i was in the line for the bar at a night club and two girls in front were dressed in mafia out fits.

(i no i shud approach from behind but thats all i cud do) i dont believe thats the only reason tho. Anyway, i did an intelligent obervation for an opener ' hey, whos birthday is it?' an one of sed it was hers, an i we talked for bout 30 secs, then they turned around, i asked them summit else, they ansered it and turned around again. so i stopped in order to not cause a DLV

But what did i do wrong??? what cud i have done???????

Well yeah it is bad to approach from behind. Since you were all standing in line I assume that your entire body was turned towards them as you initiated conversation? If this is the case then you telegraphed too much interest too soon.

Approaching someone when in line can definitely be awkward because there's no way to give yourself a good time constraint. Also, since you were talking to them from directly behind them, it was even more obvious that you were trying too hard to gain their attention. I'm sure they were thinking in their minds, "When's this creep gonna leave us alone?"

If you're going to open someone in a situation like that, be sure to follow up your first question with a good DHV story, or a best-friends test, and use something funny to get their interest.

For example, I might have said "Hey whoose b-day is it?"
girl: it's mine!
me: Oh I could totally tell! This place is great to come on your b-day cuz they give you a free drink. Like when I went to 6th street in Austin on my b-day, my friends just took me bar hopping, getting as many free drinks as I could, and some places even gave me a free shirt! I was such a celebrity that night cuz people were buying me drinks all night long.
girl: blah blah blah
me: (interrupt her to gain some dominance in the frame) Hey, you two look like best friends
girl: yea, we're pretty close..
me: (give her the best friends test)

Keep up the stories and games until you finally get into the club, then I'd pull a technique from Mystery and put my arms around them and say "Hey, let's go make some new friends!"
