At this point I'd like to have something better to say than just a "thank you" or a "well you look nice too". If there's an opportunity to neg that's great but I just want some material to work with.

It's a compliment for her, but I was also kind of jokingly saying we're both really shallow.

I merely show confident gratitude as if I get them all the time. Sometimes it is "Thanks your so sweet!", "All your such a sweetheart", "Aww shucks"(jokingly), just something where you accept the compliment with confidence. I don't neg someone for complimenting me. I thank them and make them feel good about it.
Sometimes I do joke but most the time I accept the compliment in stride as if I already knew that. _________________ Just another guy from back in the day.
