About 8 months ago this girl on my uni course started to text me to see if we could do a project together, she's a steady HB8 and I'm happy about that. Anyway, we did the project together and after it we still hung out abit, going cinema and all that.

We texted quite a bit, pretty much every day but it was just general convo. It came round to valentines day and I said can I take her out, with her replying it would be awkward as we were just friend. In my lack of wisdom I drop the I want to be more than that and she gives it the 'LJBF' speech. I accept this with the mindset of moving on. Couple of weeks later when she was a bit drunk she said that she was starting to like me more than a friend but didn't really act upon it despite my effort (My friend told me the next day what she had said). All this time I didnt start any form of texting or messenging convo at all, its always her. Couple of months pass and she come's out at my uni club again, this time I saw her kissing some dude (incidentely she was texting me all the way home after-not that i replied), I pretty much said after that just leave me alone.

Couple of weeks pass and she starts texting me again, with increasing frequency. After about a month I have to head back to uni for the day so I offer to meet up, she seems keen and gives a few days that she is free to schedule my trip. We ok the day and its all dandy. I text her the day before generally saying i'll get you at 1-1.30ish and go into london or something. She didn't reply. On the day at 10.30 she texts saying sorry she didnt text back but work had changed her hours and she didnt have time to meet up. Just brushed it off and didnt really bother to reply. 4 days later she starts texting me again seeing how I am, it's now a week later and the texts come still.

I have this real feeling that I'm just being a mug by continuing to humour her texts, but just wanted to get you guys' take on it

Please be brutualy honest

This is just me and I am not claiming to be good at this but I would forget about a relationship with her. It sounds like she enjoys having you as a "fan" and when she sees you losing interest or she is bored she "cat strings" you along to increase your interest. I would turn this into a good thing and be friends. Maybe one day she could be a good pivot? Maybe that could create some jealousy in her? Anyway, I would just forget about it for now but remember it’s about the journey.

I suggest you freeze her out for a bit. Next time she texts ignore what she says. Tell her you're going out with some of your friends and she should come. Show her you're tired of this little game and it's her move. You're a fun happy guy and don't need to be strung along because you've got options.
Give her an ultimatum. If she doesn't come just delete her number and tell her delete yours. If she doesn't come, I gotta say I doubt it would go anywhere anyway.
