A Sticking Point or SP is an issue you CONSISTENTLY run into.
It is
NOT a point where you get stuck with ONE SPECIFIC GIRL.
A Sticking Point is:
Quote:
I keep getting LMR whenever I bring girls back to my place. This has happened at least 10 times already! What am I doing wrong?
A Sticking Point is NOT:
Quote:
I got LMR with this one girl! What do I do?
IT IS AGAINST THIS BOARD'S RULES TO POST THREADS ABOUT JUST ONE GIRL
If you have not already gone out and practiced enough to have a real Sticking Point from meeting an ABUNDANCE of women, YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO POST HERE.

I am a software engineer that eats, breathes, and lives for computers. All of my friends are the same way so when I am with them I have plenty to talk about (this includes girls that I am friends with). To put it short, I am a geek. The problem lies in the fact that I am not attracted to girl that are into computers (I guess opposites attract huh?). When I am talking with someone about anything other than computers or any other geeky things that I am into, I grow bored. It's not that I am afraid to talk to women, it's just that the conversation tends to bore me and I grow quiet because I just don't care. I try to come up with something to talk about but by then there has already been a long awkward silence...any suggestions? _________________ Now I can finally be myself 'cause I don't want to be myself.

I would suggest going onto youtube and typing in the mystery method. Someone has uploaded his DVD set. It's five hours long but somewhere in the midst of it all is advice on how to make your career sound more interesting than 'computer programmer' etc...
Mystery gives something like ' I stop people... eating the pie' (relating to hackers). Say you stop hackers and virus makers getting into government mainframes. Sell it like a movie would. If you sound enthusiastic about it, people WILL listen because why wouldn't they? This is obviously an exciting thing that they've never heard about before if you say it right.
What you musn't do is go in there and start talking about computers until their chips are fried (pardon the pun). You need to find a DHV story involving your work. This can be fabricated, but make sure it includes DHV spikes. People are coming to you for advice. You had to protect a friend from something.
So now you've made your job sound more interersting, now would be the time to start thinking about other activities mentioned above. Go on one or two and write down the basic tale on a sheet of paper.
i went sky Diving
Ground lesson
Airoplane
Jumped out
Landing
Inbetween these put DHV spikes. Then fill in the gaps with exciting pauses and suspense.
And there you have a 5-10 minute tale about your sky diving adventure.
What you do IS Exciting. You just need to pitch it right.
Hope this helps

Take up hobbies, listen to some audio lessons while you travel to work, etc.
Everyone has many things they are capable of, get the most out of life.
You cannot interact with the rest of society if you can only talk about one thing.
This is coming from a total geek. I am a video game programmer and my love, life, and career, is video games, playing them, programming them, and designing them. But I love doing other things too. Dancing, martial arts, learning french, dress up parties (need to get into the right circle of friends for that), body building, and i may not keep up with those things all the time (I go through phases where I do one more than the others) but once I got interestd in these things, I can:t not have them in my life. I love variety. This even is reflected in my job. Although my official title is programmer, I'm actually a dual programmer/artist, in equal amounts, and managed to convince my boss that I can do both sufficiently well and prefer doing both. I was always into illustration before I became a programmer, and have maintained that interest through the years by teaching myself 2D and 3D art software, and choosing "multimedia" at uni which teaches you both programming and art on computers.

It's not like the ONLY thing I do is computer related, but the other things I am passionate about don't really seem like things you could use to impress a girl (comic books, video games, and other things like that). I have a problem telling lies about really cool things that I haven't actually done because I am in this game for a relationship, not one night stands. _________________ Now I can finally be myself 'cause I don't want to be myself.

YOu can still be passionate about them and make them sound interesting by the way you describe the experiences invovled, but those two things you listed are only 2 things, and nerdy things at that. You have to take an interest in other things.
