Please help me out here, any help or criticism is greatly appreciated.

Let me tell you a situation that came up recently....

There's this girl who I thought gave me lots of IOIs and would laugh and my jokes etc. So I called her to see if she wanted to go to an xmas festival, and she later flaked on me.

The timeline is a bit fucked up though. I asked her way back on Dec. 17th and she said "oh I'd love to." But I didn't really talk to her again till the 27th when I called her again to formalise plans. There was a big gap b/c of our school break and she said she was busy before xmas, but she knew I would call on the 27th nonetheless.

She gave me a bullshit excuse of not having time to come out b/c she needed to study for the upcoming exams.

I acted like it was no big deal and said oh that's fine, it's not a big deal, you just gotta prioritise and if you need time to study that's fine. She asked me if I could find someone else, I said sure, and she asked "do you think i have time to study" and i said "of course you have plenty of time, but again it's up to you if you think u need time to study etc." Anyway I was giving the impression that it didn't affect me and I was talking to her like a friend.

Should I have busted her balls? What's the right response? Is there any chance left with this girl or should I just move on? Was she testing me?

Speaking from my own evil and twisted perspective, yeah you shoulda busted her balls . It may just be me, but I'd rather be associated with fun and mischief than rationality and responsibility.

[Her] Oh no, I can't I have to study...
[You] Well, aren't you a big girl making responsible decisions... Come out and play, live a little.

Or something along those lines. When I'm talking to a girl, I usually give her BAD advice - just so I can bust on her later if she agrees with me.

[Ace] Judas priest, you know I'm a bad influence, why would you ever listen to me? What is wrong with you, woman?
