If you follow the idea that you should end the call, it is usually a stick in the side when you get lost in the conversation and then she has to go. When she says she has to go because (enter reason here). Throw something relavent that should spark her interest, or save something interesting just in case you let things go like this. A girl will go back to conversation for about 30-45 more seconds before remember she was about to hang up. After she talks for about 20-25 seconds interject, reminding her , "but you have to go."

I don't know if this necessarily regains control of the situation, but I manage to end the conversation (with a in-control statement).

Tell me what you all think.

good, as long as youre fairly sure its not something pulling her away that just cant wait - if a family member just got in an accident etc. in this case you run the risk of being forced off the phone after being asked politely . . . but if its something like, shes getting ready to cook then yeah this should work.

I actually like it when they do this because you can end the chit-chat and get down to business which is arranging a meeting. When they say " I have to go now but I'll call you later." Just reply: "Well that won't work out for me because I'm going into a meeting in five minutes. However, I have this party to go to this weekend and you should come." Thats the easiest way to make arrangements and if she's into you she will come.

I recall as best I can.

Her: I gotta go study for French
Me: Ummm no you don't
Her: No I really do, I think the only reason I have an A is because i think he likes me.
Me: Sounds like you'll make a great couple.
Her: Yeah right blah blah blah--
Me: ok but YOU have to go study now.

Another good way is to say something like, "Good, I was trying to figure out how to get you to stop talking so much  " or, "Good, I didn't want to be rude, but I was just about to ___". Basically just some sort of playful neg that reverses the situation, so now you are the one that is busy and she was holding you up.
