THEN I USUALLY GO INTO SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF, "IM MORBID AND THIS IS MY PARTNER IN CRIME (INTRODUCE WINGMAN)...WE'RE NOT FROM HERE AND WE WERE LOOKING FOR A COOL CLUB TO CHECK OUT (OR PARTY OR WHATEVER) AND SPONTANEOUSLY SHOWED UP SO...HERE WE ARE" THAT LEAVES YOU WITH ABOUT A MILLION DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS IN WHICH YOU COULD TAKE IT FROM THERE. FOR INSTANCE, YOU COULD LATER FOLLOW UP WITH MYSTERY/STYLES INFAMOUS PHOTO ROUTINE (YOURE HOLDING A CAMERA, AFTER ALL). YOU COULD GO INTO HOW YOURE NOT FROM THE AREA AND WERE CHECKING OUT THE SITES AND PLACES AND ARE TRYING TO SNAP PICS W/ AS MANY COOL INTERESTEING PEOPLE AS YOU CAN..ETC, ETC...JUST HAVE FUN WITH IT. LIKE I SAID, "CAN I GET A PICTURE WITH YOU" IS SIMPLE, BUT IT WORKS

I ONLY FIELD TESTED THIS ONE ON TWO SEPERATE NIGHTS, BUT IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. HOPE SOME OF YOU ARE DOWN FOR TRYING IT OUT AND IF YOU DO, BY ALL MEANS, GET BACK TO ME ON HOW IT WENT...

I don't know man.
I think that's not thought out the whole way. Maybe, try something like, "Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could help me out. You see my friend and I here are just visiting here and we're trying to find cool things nearby to take pictures of. Do you have any suggestions?"
Later on you could say, after building your rapport, you can escalate a little and say, "I'll take your picture by that if you want." If they say ok, do it, if they say no thanks, you say "Yeah you're right, I wanted to take pretty pictures anyway..." as long as that is said with a smirk they'll understand you were joking.
That's how I would do it.
