K, so first of all I go to a lot of parties where I don't know more than a couple people there (usually a couple good guys friends). So, this puts me at a little bit of a disadvantage when it comes to pickup because I have no social proof of how cool I am.

So this is what I do: I open a few sets to start off the night, and after I get in good with them I act like i'm bad with names, but i'm determined to remember everyone in the set by the end of the night. This will make them remember me, even if I don't remember them. Then when i'm just walking around I can say hi to people "Hey Ashley!!" and she'll give me a hug usually and say something like "you remembered!"

Well, after about a half hour of opening sets and yelling people's names loudly, everyone starts to think i'm the most popular guy at the party, even though I don't know half the people's names, they all remember me and think I know their names.

This works great because for the rest of the night when i'm talking to HB's, I get people yelling my name from across the room, giving me great social proof.


I have tested this many times in field and i'd say it works about 90% of the time.

I enjoy going to parties where I know few people because I see it as an opportunity. I seize the chance to make new friends and create my own positive reputation among them. Like you said, you can create social proof out of this with little trouble. You can frame yourself to be seen any way you want to be seen. You never know who you will meet by simply being social. Also, being surrounded by strangers forces you to be social so you aren't just sitting there doing nothing.

It's a nice way to build social proof. You should also try to talk to one group of people, then talk to another group, get the two groups together, then tell them "I'm going to my friends - will be back in a minute". This way you are being way more social and also you are helping everyone meet new people.
