since you know approach is first. you need a routine, saying, or whatever floats your boat just to get the conversation started.
since your mind is jumbled I say take a step back. Don't look for the best routine just pick one and only one and use that over and over again. test it out in otherwords. when you feel safe with that one routine you now have imperical proof for yourself that it works.
that saying routine or approach whatever it may be joins your arsenal.
after that try a new one test it.
eventually you will find which ones work for you and which don't.
remember the routine approach is just to get you in the door. try going for 5 min conversations if you find yourself stuck. say have a good day and leave. if all else fails and you find yourself plowing and dont know how to stop stay in the conversation until they leave
