My advice is not to do the magic trick until later on in the conversation. If you do it too soon then it's going to come off as some kind of ploy to get them interested in you. Once you already have them attracted, then bust it out by saying something like, "I actually know this cool trick, you guys wanna see?" As if it kinda came out of nowhere. If you do it successfully then you've went from attracted to super attracted.
Agreed. Use it midway through your routine when they already start to think you seem interesting. Then ask them if they have seen the dollar and cigarette trick. Or if they are like "What else do you do?" then you can tell them you do magic and then show them the trick.
I doubt anyone will have a number two pencil on them, but if you happen to have one, you can also transition into the snapping a pencil with a dollar bill trick. That one is real easy. Fold the dollar in half long ways. Then have someone hold the pencil at both ends tightly. Telegraph it a little and build it up and hold the dollar at one end pinching it between your thumb and bent index finger. It'd normally be impossible to break a pencil like this. The key is to then extend your index finger into the fold of the bill so they can't see it, which is actually easy to do. Then just break the pencil by karate chopping it with your finger (hidden by the dollar bill).
