I am trying to figure out if this routine for opening girls sitting at a table displays high value or if it is a chump move.

So i go onto my phone go into the notepad and write something on it like: "Why do you two look so bored. "

Then I go over to the girls sitting down and casually slide my phone in front of one of them but turn away and lean up on the table pretending like I never did it.

and..... you opened?

But is it a good opener or just cheesy? I kinda feel like it would make many women laugh. But it might not display higher value.

It's quite good actually but I'd say to not bother yourself so much with openers or how do I open or what am I going to say... etc Just making a comment about something she's wearing is enough, remember that less is more.

I actually talked to a girl a few years ago who told me about a guy doing that at a cafe; however, I think he wrote "hey, we should chat" or something similar.

I don't know how well it would work. She said that she thought it was creepy because if he wanted to talk he should have just came up and started a conversation. I think delivery is important.

In my mind it seems like it would show slight lack of confidence.

i agree that openers are not so important,
but you can have a picture of a cute dog on your phone.
show it to only one of the girls and ask her if she think is cute.
your target should be the one you dont show the picture to.

perrik7 that's quite good, sometimes I use quite lame openers but they work quite well. The other day I was sitting next to a super hot girl and I wrote on my phone " You have the greenest eyes I've seen in the 8 hours and 40 minutes that I've been awake" She started laughing and then we started talking. As I said before, you just need an excuse to start a conversation.
