Here's the situation, I've been gaming this HB8 for about 20 minutes and she gives me a few IoI's and I hadn't been negging her very much. When I try to # close she says "I don't go out with guys who are prettier than me." So almost immediately I blurt out "That's fine, I don't go out with girls who aren't prettier than me anyway." she looked kinda put off by it momentarily despite my joking mannerisms, but seemed fine right afterwards. Three minutes later I got the number.

I feel like I escaped the figurative Bermuda triangle with that one, but I can't be 100% sure that it put me in any trouble at all. I ask because I personally fell in love with that line the moment I said it because I've gotten the "you're too pretty for me" loads of times before. Only now do I realize that it is a shit test/LMR deal.

If you want to soften it a bit might want to say something like "That's fine, I don't go out with girls who don't think they're prettier than me anyway." It's not as direct, more of a comment on her statement than anything else.

But you still pulled off the close, so I guess it wasn't too awful harsh.

thanks for the advice, I do think that the softer version would get better results. And yeah, I did get her number, though I felt like I was digging myself out of a hole before I got it.

I will field test the new line when I next get the too pretty line, and if all goes well I will have finally found an answer to this shit test

I don't see anything wrong with the words you used, but the context and tone count. Without saying it, let her know that the comeback you used is your general rule of thumb, and because you're asking for her number and you want to take her out, she must be prettier than you by default. Don't pretend like you are prettier than her, even if you feel that way. It snubbs her neg, holds your value, and can make her feel good about her self in your eyes.

Think about whether or not you conveyed your neg like this and how you can do this more sucessfully in the future.
