There was girl in my biology class, we were lab partners but other than that we never talked outside of class. I have to admit, she's hot but I never tried because I knew she had a bf.

So class ends and i go a month without seeing her, I run into her at a new years party with her sisters. we take pictures and exchange numbers but then i had to leave.

a couple days later she starts texting me. mostly what are you up to tonight kind of stuff, but because of logistics we never saw each other. she asked if I was leaving for the for winter-break and i said "yeah, want me to call you when I get back?" sshe said yeah we can go to a bar or something.

does this sounds consistent with someone that no longer has a bf?

while away on my trip i was thinking about sendin a playful text about how much better the weather is here or something. how can i proceed or find out if they broke up?

Don't even bring that up over the phone or in texts. Go to the bar with her. Bringing up the possible boyfriend sends the idea to her you are interested and she gains the upper hand. Go with the flow, see what happens. Worse comes to worse, you get to catch up with an old classmate.
