So I'm new to the game and want to practice on a girl who I've known for a long long time, but we stopped seeing each other (as friends) for about 8 years and only started hanging out again a few months back.

I'm trying to go for the classic, out of the friendzone technique I've seen in a few places that starts with a freezeout for a month or two. (I am also doing the self improvement bit)

I always make first contact with this girl (typical needy guy previously) but stopped last week. Last night she commented on my FB status (which she never does) and I didn't reply. Then today she's sent me a "Duuude! long time to see what's going on?" text (it's been a week).

What should I do? Ignore the text and if challenged claim I've been busy? Answer back with something saying how busy I've been and we should catch up to DHV?

P.S.: Bit of background if it helps: we were "best friends" as teenagers, I was a soppy git who tried the average chump way of getting into her pants only to be friendzoned haaard. She got a very controlling BF and basically saw no-one for 8 years. She's now single and back on her feet. We hung out when we've both been going through depression and have helped each other out. I know a lot of this gives me a mountain to climb, but sod it, that's what mountains are for

I'd definitely respond, that message she sent looks like she's trying to initialize, which would be a likely IOI. (Indicator of Interest) So yeah reply and try and set something up, just be cool, you don't want to end up where you were last time Keep reading more around here & listen to PUA's responses, but it sounds positive to me dude. Just be careful she isn't trying to use you if she thinks you're still that needy friend.
