I had the same problem, i couldnt put on a fake smile. So i thought of somthing that was funny enough to make me have a real smile.

If you have ever seen Borat the movie then you can use this. When he is talking to the feminists, he says " Smile a bit, pussycat." So when ever i need a smile i just think of that weird moment that he was in and i start to smile. It can apply to any funny moment.
