| although i daresay that perhaps his aim was a little off in suggesting that you could destroy a person's values, and his intentions are questionable, he said that it was possible to destroy Values. not women.
the basic premise of the most potent forms of these techniques come from the idea that everybody has some kind of morals and values, and everybody acquired those values because they have been taught these things through society.
but the bottom line is that most of the time, people hold beliefs which are not actually true. having said that, IM gonna go out on a limb and suggest that any belief that is not based in truth has the potential to be detrimental.
beliefs and values can not exist in opposition to contrary beliefs and values. you'll have to destroy the old ones in order to instill new ones.
destroy her values. let her discover new truths. leave her better than you found her. thats the basic idea. just dont be a douchebag and tell her lies to fill the vacuum you created.
i met a religious girl once, and she didnt believe in abortion because she thought it was wrong.
earlier in the night, we were talking, and i asked her "what does it mean to be alive; or rather... how do you know that youre alive?"
after a few minutes of constructive guidance (and i mean that in the least manipulative way possible) by simply correcting her if she was wrong, and giving her a logical reason why, she ultimately reached the conclusion that we know we're alive because we are aware of life. we think, we feel sensation, we have emotions. we exist because we know we exist and we are conscious and aware. this is what it means to be alive.
when she later spoke of how she believed abortion was wrong because its killing, i told her, "well is an unborn child alive?"
"yes"
"but what did you tell me earlier about what it meant to be alive?"
"..."
"i mean, i dont know-and of course, No one really ever knows- when a fetus becomes capable of perception and sensation, so we can never really say one way or the other, i suppose... the scientific definition, of course, doesnt admit that a child is 'alive,' but is an unborn child aware of its existence? does it have emotions and sensations?"
"... i... dont know."
"i know."
if you were to go further, then the final sentence would not have been "i know" but rather "ahy, but who are we to judge right and wrong, when we, ourselves, do not even know the truth of the matter we are passing judgment upon?..." and here's the kicker "... how can we even reach such a conclusion about what is right and what is wrong?"
her answer will be based on... (are you ready?!) what was Once true.
that means.
she will either answer based on what the world has taught her, or how she feels about the matter (which, again, is based on what she has been taught growing up).
after this, you can apply that darling, simplified example used by our lovely (alleged) serial murderer. provide an example which she can relate to very strongly, and ask her, in this situation, if she felt like she was SO right that she would never have doubted her position, only to find out that she was wrong...
using an example like santa claus is pretty lowly, because it makes a mockery of her as a child, even though we all believed in santa as little children. if iiiiiiiiiii were doing this again, i would use a past relationship of first, true love.
other options include synchronizing her experiences with external sources. for instance, bring up some other fine upstanding religious leader who was found out to be corrupt. the focus is not about the man who fell from grace, for the truth is that we are all men (as in, we're all human) and so we can all make mistakes of our lives. however, focus on those who believed in him. how do you think it was for them when they realized that a person they so deeply believed in had let them down so terribly? it would be ridiculous for a person (the woman youre talking to) to be unable to identify with those people whose beliefs were lost because we have no way of ever being able to measure ourselves against people we will never meet. How can we ever be so guilty of pride as to say that you are a better judge of people than the ones who were unfortunate enough to end up in that situation?
anyway. ive never been a student of NLP, so im sure that I could never pull off the technique VanDamme suggested, since im a novice at best when it comes to things like anchoring and using patterns.
but if you so desire, i can be much more explicit on how to create a similar effect without any understanding of NLP.
the point was that I find the destruction of values not unlike any art of pickup. its a skill to be honed that can have used for incredible good, or it can be used for anything terrible you so desire. and just like in game, perhaps you have to break everything to make something better of yourself. _________________ never knows best...
