I’m surprised this hasn’t been discussed before but I couldn’t find anything with the search function.

This has happened to all of us. You approach a group of HBs and start working some cocky funny. You started bringing laughter to the group and your target then states the stupid line “you’re funny”. How do you respond?

My response has been “Do you mean funny looking?” and then I address the group with “Is she always this mean?” Good neg effect and keeps everyone laughing however I want something better.

What responses have you all used when you get this line?

"no I'm not. you guys are just weird"

if you feel enough familiarity, change "weird" with "kind of retarded", ALWAYS with enough C&F for that not to become an insult of course

In my opinion this is an IOI. I would begin moving into A3 depending on how much you've got her attraction up.

Good point Joe. I guess it all depends on when line comes up. I normally get this line right after my open so I'm not sure if there is enough attraction yet.

If you use cocky funny as much as I do I'm sure you hear it all the time and I think its too big of an opening to pass up without a solid follow. Any other responses?
