Sorin, I really like your post. This is why:
1.You need to learn the attitudes and frame etc.
2.Check out some of the canned material to know what it should look like in action.
3.Now start practicing without the canned material.
Otherwise you will be all attached to the canned stuff, practice affects the way its done.
That's a very good point Stetson. Canned material only works if you are in the right frame and have powerful attitudes. I had this period in my life where I just memorized a bunch of canned stuff and of course there were always situations where I crashed and burned because there was no routine for it...
Then I came across the concept of frames and attitudes, and it changed EVERYTHING. Like, I know how lots of guys say Mystery Method is so great... but they tell you next to nothing about inner game. Mystery himself says "just practice the canned stuff till you get congruent" which is pointless if you don't come from a strong frame.
When I read Swinggcat's stuff about frames, prizeability, and the Prize attitudes, that was what turned my inner game around. Mehow's book also clarifies frames and subcoms - I see it as the COMPLETED version of Mystery's technique. Vin DiCarlo also has some very good information on frames. These three alone are WAY better teachers than Mystery, they teach subcoms and attractive personality MUCH better than any canned routine stack. But all three of them contain lots of routines just in case.
When it comes to canned material, I only pick a few routines to practice and about 90% of my game I improvise without canned routines or can my own material. But I always keep a couple of canned routines ready for that extra push whenever the vibe is at the right level. "Gay cats" needs a high-energy vibe, if the girl is sending IODs left and right or she's shy and bored, it may not work so well.
