probably can't salvage this situation, but thought i'd lay it out here to see your guys' take on it. I just got out of a year long relationship and i never had much game to begin with, so try not to facepalm too much at me failing

I was out for a birthday at an upscale bar (by my city's standards) and ran into a girl I had been on a couple dates with over a year ago. I'm pretty drunk by this point but end up following her to a couple bars with some friends and we end the night making out, but she gives me her number again and tells me I need to come drink with her the next day, because she has it off.

the next day I don't hear from her and it's 3am, so I text her saying, "hey cutie what's the plan"

and she says, "not sure yet... waiting on (a mutual female friend)"

I don't reply and she texts a while later saying where she is and to come over

I hang out with her and 2 of her friends (one of whom i know, because she's a good friends' girlfriend) and have some cocktails. Things seem to go okay - it's very casual. I can tell there's sort of a strained friendship between the girl I'm talking to and her friend. She's kind of the bar hopper/party girl and the friend is the straight A student.

after we pay our tabs, I walk them to their car and I get a hug and she tells me she'll see me before I leave (leaving this weekend for 2 month project 4 hours away)

I wait two days and we have the following text conversation:

me: "random question, but do you like [insert name of restaurant]"

her: "haa yeah random, Ive never been there before.."

me: "haha well when you are free next, I'll take you "

her: "Aww haha alright.. your sweet " *guessing being called sweet is not a good thing*

me: "so what night works for you?"

her: "my only night off is thursday..."

me: "I have a 4 day weekend so that works, what time should I pick you up?"

her: "haha idk... Lets figure this out when I get outta work tonight k?"

me: "okay "



that was 2 days ago and no text, so I haven't bothered texting back.

any insight on this? is it worth my pride to even try to contact her again?


I think she got out of a long relationship not too long back and still has contact with her ex. Maybe I misread the situation?

oh and I guess if i were to say anything now, all I've come up with is, "hey I'm going to need to scratch that dinner tonight, but would you be down for cocktails later on?"


I was thinking i misread the situation and she's looking more for the "I want to get drunk and make some bad decisions completely by 'accident'" type night
