In an attempt to improve my text game I've been hammering out texts as much as I can (not the same girl of course). So tonight I think I've learned something but was wondering if I could get some input from the more advanced among us.

This is a girl I kclosed on first encounter at a party, then met up about a week later and went for frozen yoghurt in the park which turned into another couple of hours in a coffee shop (about six hour date!) Some kissing at the end of it, walk to subway station and kiss goodbye. All good.

So I'm trying to spice up my text game a little since I always go for some really boring logistical things like when to next meet etc.

On Monday, two days after the date:

me: Saturday was fun. Getting cold & warming up included.
Brighten up my uneventful Monday & give me a smile.. - trying to tell her to give me a smile (I ran some game about it on the date)!

her: i had fun too! i hope work hasn't been too monotonous - completely goes over her head (maybe)

me: A little, but Mondays can be forgiven for being so.
Not exactly kissing in coffee shops. - trying to bridge a little with a reference to date again
Soldiered through tho!
Hows the day been to you?

her: Normal and boring. . .I have to crank out
a paper tonight but it shouldn't be too bad - okay so she's 22 and in college and I'm 29. Sweet.

me: Crank it up! Nothing you haven't managed before I'm sure - did I really say crank it up? What a douche.
- let those typing fingers do their thing


Then silence. This is pretty normal texting for me. Pretty logical stuff but nothing really spontaneous. So then a couple of days later:

me: I'm thinking of a change in career.
Setting up a massagery with my free oil sample. - reference to date. Said I got handed a free sample of massage oils at a pharmacy opening (semi-true)
I need a test subject tho, care to apply?

her: maybe, if you can pencil me in

me: I'll pencil you in as soon as I've bought some pencils.
It'll have to be a pen & a post it note for now.
We're closed on Friday tho.

I think this was my first cock up. I'm basically trying too hard to turn into a way to arrange another date (letting her know I'm busy on Friday). Once again the logistics thing is overriding everything. I should have been running with the role-play I guess. Pencils? Why the hell am I talking about pencils? I should have been talking about her bringing a bathing suit to wear, and what colour is her bathing suit? Is it a bikini?. Or asking her if there are any areas I should concentrate on. Jesus.

her: you'll have to keep me posted then - already losing interest ...

me: You already are. Post it note posted,
"[her name] = ?". My first maybe appointment

Fail. No reply to this.




So, final attempt which went out earlier tonight, at least some deviation from my usual "trying to organise when to meet up" and just going straight for a spontaneous meet up proposal:

me: Hey just finished up some post work drinks.
If you're free could meet for one.
School night I guess, but let me know if you fancy it.

her: tempting but i think i'm going to have to say no for tonight,
just cause i have to be a hermit with work

me: Ahhh ok. Poor hermit no worries hope you get what you need done.
Let me know if you have some downtime. I have an uneventful Sunday...


Jesus! There I go again trying to fish for a meet up! It was rereading that last text which prompted me to write this post. It just occurred to me how AFC it was. Basically she said she was tempted to come out but was too busy doing work, and my reaction was to cower away. I could have handled it so much better

A) bust on her for working so hard
B) try and tempt her out. Show I don't give up easily
C) playfully complain about work always getting in between us



Anyway, I'll be interested now what you guys think about a) what I actually did and B) what I think I should have done and whether it's any better.
