First of all, I'm working on a time crunch. I'm in Afghanistan, and I just started talking to a girl today. She is room mates with a soldier who works for me. I outrank the girl, but shes older then I am.
The girl that works for me told me that this girl was asking about me after we had parted ways for the evening. She said that I was funny, cute, nice, and was asking what I was like.
I worked in some kino and some C&F.
I went to her room and to talk and hang out for a bit and see if things could get any farther. We were talking and flirting back and forth, I had a good vibe, until she started texting with another soldier who is on another base here in Afghanistan. The aren't a couple, but they are "talkin." Once she started texting with him, she sealed up completely, started giving one word answers, and seemed totally uninterested. I fought it for a few minutes to see if she would put the phone down, then left.

Any ideas on what I can do to close? Or anything that I should have done differently?
The time crunch comes in, I only have a week left on this base, then I'm headed back to the states.

Not sure what is going on but it sounds as if your timing was off.

Did you pursue her as soon as you found out she was interested in you or did you wait a few days/weeks, etc? Sounds like to me that while she was interested in her you didn't move in for the kill and the other guy got her attention afterwards.

Do the cocky/funny routine on her and see where it goes. But do be careful of your situation. You don't want to get court-martialed over her. Don't eat where you shit so to speak.

She might be interested in this other guy cause he isn't in the same local as you and she knows this which makes things 'more safe' for everyone.
