Clubbin last nite-NYC. In dance clubs, for me, the best way to get a girls attention is to touch her arm as she walks by and I'm dancing. Depending on her reaction-I'll try to grab her and stop her from walking past and say something like: do u know how to dance?

Then, many times, I wont even say anything to her (its too damn loud!), but keep making eye contact, smiling and touching her arms, back and waist. Get a little closer, smell her hair, breath softly in her ear, pull away, do it again. These seems to work quite well for me and whats great is that I dont have to talk much (my sticking point!).

I can get girls struggling to type their name and # into my blackberry after a little while- BUT AFTERWARDS IS WHERE I HAVE A CHALLENGE.

Do I text? What do I say?

HOw long of a wait is ideal?

Initially dont text, especially if you have not built rapport. Call her. If you were not with her for long, you'll need to call the next day (in the afternoon), if you had a decent convo wit her leave it 2 days.
What to say? Open with a description of the setting that you two met so that she can remember you. Then ask a simple question, something like: "Hi its X, i was chatting with you at (the club's name) last night, my ear's are still ringing from the awesome music, but anyway i just wanted to ask you what perfume you were wearing, its my lil sis's birthday tomorow and i want to buy it for her".
From this opener you will be able to gauge how into you she is. If the response is positive, then DHV (with something about how fun and exciting the things you have been doing lately are) and build rapport (make statements) and finish with "hey listen it was good to chat, meet me for a coffee on tuesday at 4pm". If she cant do that time give her two other options "oh i only can do wednesday and friday", if shes still not coming to the table, end the convo in a polite and cocky funny way.
