So I went out with this girl from OKCupid. The date went well, even though we did not kiss close. However she hinted at a second date. A few days after the date, I had to leave town for the holidays. And I will not be back in town on the 2nd of Jan. I told her I will text her when I get back to organize a second date. I am now wondering, if I should send her a text while I am out of town. Just a simple text like: "hey, how was your Christmas???" I am wondering if that is showing that I am too eager, or does that keep me in her thoughts.

In my very nonprofessional opinion i would say yes. I believe you should because why wouldn't you? The only possible reason you wouldn't want to text a HB is if you are afraid of screwing it up, or afraid of losing her...and those to me sound like fears of an AFC .

No, you dont send a text, because you are too busy living your life. (and i really hope you are ).

Call her when you get back and feel like it

From the perspective of a 30 year old guy who mostly dates 25 year olds in Northern California from online dating sites: I would text up to every other day just once if it's a text that will make her smile, make you look good (did something amazing today, teaser details), be flirty in a fun way (sexual is good, and making fun of her is good, as long as it's lighthearted), or for date logistics, otherwise it's a net negative and you shouldn't bother. So saying, "Hey how was your Christmas/New Years," is not a good text to send not because you're overeager, but because it's a boring text that any AFC would send.

If she responds with a question you can answer it, but if her text doesn't require a response no need to keep chatting by text. For me though, after the first time I do a text like this lately the girl doesn't let a day go by without texting me first. While I might go back and forth with her for awhile one day, to show her I don't have time for texting convos every day, I'll take hours to respond much of the time. I've completely replaced calls with texts - I don't think it's been a problem, but maybe it would be different elsewhere. Calls are more of a pain for busy people than texts, plus I hate them.
