I just joined this forum. I newly single and am looking to sharpen my skills. I’ve read a lot of pua material but haven’t logged any field work in a while. I had a recent encounter I wanted to share and get opinions on

I met this cutie about 6 weeks ago. I’m a musician and had a weekly gig at this restaurant. First night I met this hottie bartender. She introduced herself, is very friendly, comfortable etc. I’ve noticed her being very personable with customers her co-workers so didn’t think much.
Anyway, last week was my last gig there for a while so I decided I would ask her out. I noticed earlier in the night she seemed to be a bit flirty. While I was playing she was digging the music and we made eye contact and she stuck her tongue out at me. Then a few min later we caught eyes and I made stupid face at her – one you’d make to your friends as a kid. She laughed and said “real professional.” Nice banter.
Anyway, during our break I caught her on the way out and said, “hey, come here.” She did and I asked her point blank, “are you single?” She then says “I don’t know” a couple of times in a slightly playful way. I busted on her a bit for that….something about I don’t know means yes or something. Then I mentioned grabbing a drink sometime and she said, “we can talk about that.” Anyway, I got her number, this was last Thurs and gonna make the call tonight. All seems good but I’m kinda rusty on this pickup stuff and have made my share of blunders over the years. Even though I’ve seen her every week for a while, every interaction is super brief since she is working or I am playing. I never have enough time go deeper and build more comfort.
I almost feel like I should get a phone chat or two in or some flirting via text before trying to setup a meet.

Your instincts are right on. Don't just ask her out straight away, and definitely don't ask her out in a voicemail message. Call or text, do some flirting first for sure.
