After 12 years out of the game I am starting to get back in (marriage problems). I met a woman the other day at lunch and did a lot of what I have read hear. Forced an ioi, got her to make contact with me, talked about bullshit for half an hour and got her number. As it turns out she is a stylist and I asked her if she could possibly find anyway to improve me. She looked at me and told me that my hair should be shorter. When I left I didn't even need to ask her for her number she had it ready for me.

I text her later in the afternoon and said it was nice meeting her and I was looking to her trying to make me look better then I already do.
She text back. Nice to meet you. See you soon.

3 days later I asked her if she wanted to meet up for a drink.

She wrote back. Sorry but not the evening (difficult to know if it was just that evening or any evening)

I responded: for lunch one time.

that was it until today (10 days later) when I got my hair cut this morning (went to see a different stylist)

I took a picture of my hair cut and sent it to her and said "I took you advice and went shorter. You were right. Thanks"

She wrote back quite quickly " I saw a handsome man.. It suits you perfectly ;-D

I haven't written her back yet

I am thinking of just asking her to lunch one day this week. Not sure if I should communicate more first.

I am new and sort of amazed I got this far without fucking up yet.

You have to call her. Stop asking her out through text. Call her and have a good 20-30 minute convo with her (the longer the better, but longer than 30 min isn't really necessary) to show her that you can be interesting, funny etc. Texting is too easy. If you can have a good phone convo with her, she'll be way more likely to go on a date with you. And asking a girl on a date through text is way too easy. Calling shows more balls and confidence.

And don't wait any longer. When it comes to cold approach, you have to strike while the iron is hot.
