So I recently moved to the UK for study and freshers have started. Thankfully British culture is quite heavy on the drinking so having girls drunk is not a problem.

I heard it's supposed to be really easy to get laid during freshers, you basically just have to be there and be outgoing + funny and you can pull..but I've been out 2 nights and I've spoken to tons of girls, attempted to escalate but got shut down.

For example, I would ask them to go somewhere quieter because its really noisy and they'd refuse..

On a side-note, this French HB9 was waiting on her friends to go back to her flat because she was tired...was there anything I could have done to maybe go along with her/have her come to my place?

Don't believe the freshers hype/believe your going to get laid by essentially doing nothing. I was a fresher last year, it took me 6 months of university/going out clubbing to get a one-night stand with a student.

I had a girlfriend before that but nobody in my flat got laid at all during freshers. Most people will be actively trying to make as many friends as possible/making connections with people. Also most girls won't want to look like sluts infront of their housemates/girls.

When university kicks in and the "freshers feeling" kicks in then the girls will let their hair down and the word "slut" goes from derogatory to "omg hahahahahahahahah ur such a slut hehehehehehe" between the girls.

After four nights in a row clubbing I think I've had enough.

How hard must it be to talk a girl in a club, I asked myself. Especially since we're all new students. Yet set after set I got rejected, at one point this girl humiliated me when I said Hi.. she basically did a wanker sign.

I know I'm new to the country but I thought being from the caribbean would be a bonus for me.

I thought maybe I shouldn't talk on a dance floor, so I'd catch their eyes and then smile, and go dance with them. Sometimes they would give me a mischievous look and I'd approach them from in front like an alpha, but the friends bail them out with a hug.

I know its not my looks that is causing this: I was so dismal after a particularly bad night I left the club by myself and roamed until I found a Mcdonalds and sat there out of the cold. A really pretty girl came up and asked me if I was there alone, and she brought her friends to sit with me. She complimented me several times about my fashion sense.

So I know I must be doing something wrong, because I have approached and tried to build rapport more than any of my other flat mates..maybe it's just a case of mismanaged expectations?

Convinced myself to go another two nights out.

Last night was actually good: i adopted the mindset of enjoy yourself, be indifferent and they will come to you. I was surprised 2 girls opened me, but I did not get a f-close, just a couple number closes.


Tonight was alot worse, I actually got elbowed in the rub after trying to open a set by dancing next to them..I mean its freshers but they couldn't be that drunk. I still play a numbers game though, and approached nevertheless. Eventually landed a pair of masters students, so finally some intelligent people.. they were quite happy with my company, one even gave me a kiss after my friend suggested we make a good couple. I didn't escalate because I overthought the age difference (not to mention the frenzy of rejections i was getting) and now I only have a number close.

On my way home I sat next to a HB 9. After opening her and chatting a bit, she gave me her number, but only on strict conditions that we were just friends..after I texted her my number, she said we will go explore Manchester as friends soon.

So I regret that I got rejected so much (Symptom I'm not behaving properly) but a the same time I'm happy I approached so many girls and actually had a quality connection with two.
